Another variant
[edit]As a child, I was taught a patience similar to Yukon but which I've never seen in any published source. And I've never known of any name for said game other than "patience", though in my family we've probably always known that "patience" is a genre and not the name of a single game.
The game I was taught differs from Yukon in these ways:
- The initial deal has two face-up cards on the first depot, four on the second, and five on the remainder.
- Building on the depots is by suit.
- A space must be filled with a single card or sequence of cards in suit, which may have any rank at the top.

Odds of winning

- @CielProfond: It's difficult to say. For games of chance such as Hit or Miss and clock patience, the probability of winning is a constant. But this is a game of skill, so it depends a lot on the player's strategy. In principle, one can determine either
- the probability of winning with moves picked uniformly at random from the moves available
- the probability of winning with an optimal strategy, defined as picking at each step the move that maximises the probability of winning with the strategy applied recursively
- but with 52! possible shuffles of a pack of cards and even more possible game positions, it can get very complex. — Smjg (talk) 13:23, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
